Charles Mardiks, Managing Director
Charles has spent more than 15 years in the global travel and tourism public relations industry, and has directed brand awareness campaigns for clients such as The Peninsula Hotel Group, Visa, The Intrawest Corporation, Inter-Continental Hotel Group, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts and Royal Caribbean International. He recently completed the repositioning of the Hyatt Resorts brand via a comprehensive niche branding campaign, buzz-building events and strategic media outreach. His business-to-business campaigns for Visa U.S.A. effectively positioned the card as the preferred method of payment in the travel agent, lodging, airline, car rental, cruise line and restaurant industries.
With a deft touch for strategic alliances and business-building relationship
marketing campaigns, Charles has used his expertise to orchestrate partnerships
between the likes of the Hong Kong Tourist Association and American
Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), Homewood Suites and Merry Maids, Hotel
Le Bristol and Bergdorf Goodman, and Best Western International and
Chrysler. He is active in numerous travel industry organizations and
sits on the boards of the Pacific Asia Travel Association and the National
Academy of Travel and Tourism. He is a graduate of Syracuse University’s
Newhouse School of Communication and School of Management with a dual
Bachelor of Science degree in advertising and marketing.
Mara Begley, Senior Media Specialist
Mara’s extensive media and event marketing experience has proven invaluable for launching a number of local and national media initiatives. Successful projects include work for Manhattan East Suite Hotels, Swissotel, The Watergate (Washington, D.C.), Homewood Suites by Hilton, The Benjamin (New York), The Sagamore (New York), The Cornell School of Hotel Administration, Hyatt Resorts and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
She spent three years on the communications team for Marriott International,
and has launched such unprecedented programs as a “Sleep Concierge”
at New York’s Benjamin Hotel, and “Driving Literacy Home,”
a public service and awareness campaign for Homewood Suites. She has
been the public relations architect on new property openings such as
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, and has led the way on business-building
marketing alliances for groups like Shape Magazine and Hyatt
Regency Tamaya, New Mexico. Mara recently served as the driving force
behind the launch of New York’s premiere Luxury Travel Expo. Mara
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from St. Mary’s
College.
